If a tank runs dry, that part of the process stops.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"_chunkWrapper_6ta1u_30\">\n<h3 class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong><span class=\"_animating_6ta1u_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"2\">How many tanks are we talking about?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_chunkWrapper_6ta1u_30\">\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">It&#8217;s easy to underestimate the volume. A typical treatment plant has several separate chemical tanks \u2013 one per chemical, sometimes more. Sweden today has around 1,200\u20131,300 wastewater treatment plants and just over 1,750 waterworks, according to <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.svensktvatten.se\/\">Svenskt Vatten<\/a>. For a medium-sized treatment plant, for example, this means keeping track of five or six tanks with different chemicals, from different suppliers, with different consumption rates, at any given moment.
